Homeopathic Remedy for Honey's Swollen Paw is Working

So.. we went to visit the homeopathic vet last Thursday, to see if she could recommend anything to give Honey the best chance of healing - before we resorted to using antibiotics.

The Vet said that she wouldn't have expected a nail bed infection to result in swelling all the way up to the "knuckle joint" of Honey's toe, and she couldn't see any sign of infection other than the swelling.

She gave us a lovely homeopathic first aid kit, but also prescribed some homeopathic tablets to use on Honey. She felt that a combination of arnica and rhus tox would be the most appropriate treatment. They focus on easing bruising, inflammation and swelling. Both are supplied within the first aid kit, but she gave us a separate bottle of tablets that combine the two - at no extra charge.

We started Honey on the tablets straight away - plus we carried on with the salt water bathing so that we covered all angles.

The following day there was a dramatic improvement in the swelling. I was glad to see Honey was on the mend, but also kicked myself for not getting photographic evidence the day before. So... without delay we took a photo on day 2.

It was much worse than this, and I'm not sure that the photo shows it clearly. The swelling that you see around the knuckle joint area - went right down to the nail - and the toe was twice the size of her other toes.

Now... on day 5 - the swelling has just about gone completely.. We've stopped bathing in the salt water - as the swelling has dispersed from the nail upwards - meaning that the only area left with a tiny bit of swelling now - is the joint. Here's a photo from today..

We'll naturally keep an eye on things - and we're carrying on with the tablets until the swelling has completely gone - but hoorah - it looks as though everything has been sorted - and no antibiotics required... yay!!!
